Every now and then your body needs a bit of a recharge. A great way to relieve stress and remove some of the toxins from your system is to take a detox bath. The body is subject to toxins on a daily basis, from the air we breathe, food we eat, people we come in contact with, and any stress that the day can bring. When you detox your body you are giving it a chance to feel more energized, alert, and relaxed. Overall you should feel better with every detox that you do.

Here is a simple recipe for a sea salt bath, which is an all natural way to detox your body and make your skin feel fantastic.

Ingredients:
1-2 cups sea salt
1/2 cup baking soda
1-2 tablespoons ground ginger

There are different types of sea salt to choose from Himalayan, French, Celtic, and more. Choose whichever you prefer as long as its a natural sea salt and not an iodized or table salt. According to thedetoxdiva.com, sea salt “is an incredibly detoxing ingredient for bath as it helps draw out toxins and vitalize the skin and body with trace minerals.” The baking soda is a known cleanser, helping to smooth the skin. The 1-2 tablespoons of ginger adds an anti-inflammatory benefit and will also help relieve congestion.

Directions:
Fill bath tub with warm water.

Mix ingredients in medium bowl and then pour into bath water.

Soak for 20-30 minutes.

Optional:
Add 10 drops of your favorite essential oil such as, lavender, peppermint, chamomile, or eucalyptus.

Note:
The bath may cause your skin to flush as it pulls toxins from your body. The flushing will subside shortly after you finish the bath.

After detoxing you may feel tired or dizzy, so you may want to take your bath before a nap or in the evening before bed.

Make sure to drink a lot of water after your bath to keep your body well hydrated through your detox.
